Much Efforts Paid to Protection of Crops in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers in different parts of the DPRK are concentrating efforts on the protection of crops from downpour.
Farms in the Chongchon River basin and coastline areas of North Phyongan Province take thoroughgoing measures to protect the arable lands from inundation.
Cities and counties in South Phyongan Province find out and redress the dangerous spots vulnerable to natural disaster including anti-tidal dykes and push forward with the work to improve the waterways and rivers. Meanwhile, they make preparations to operate floodgates in any situation.
North Hamgyong Province and Rason City survey the actual conditions of rivers and pumping equipment and take necessary measures, while ensuring that reservoir caretakers fulfill their responsibility and role.
Jagang and Kangwon provinces, too, strive to prevent damage by downpour. -0-
