Campaign against Disaster Launched

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK

Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers in the DPRK have turned out in the struggle to minimize possible damage from disastrous abnormal weather while speeding up the wheat and barley harvest.

The Agricultural Commission and provincial rural economy committees strive to maintain a working system and order for positively coping with such disastrous weather as downpour, while grasping the state of wheat and barley harvest in real time.

Agricultural workers of South Hwanghae Province are doing their best to harvest grain without waste despite unfavorable weather conditions.

Pyongyang City raised the operation rate of tractors, combines and other farm machines to speed up the harvest and threshing of earlier crops.

The same is true of North Hwanghae, North Phyongan, Jagang and North Hamgyong provinces and Kaesong City.

Meanwhile, supporters to the countryside, including officials from the commissions, ministries and national institutions, are striving to protect the crops from downpour together with the agricultural workers. -0-
