Korean Central News Agency of DPRK
Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- According to information from the State Hydro-meteorological Administration, this year's rainy season in the DPRK is anticipated to start in late June with much rainfall, which would be observed in most areas of the country.
On June 26, rain and shower will hit most areas of the country with its middle part and southward as the main and some inland areas of North and South Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces will have downpour and much heavy rainfall, due to the northern low pressure and the effect of changeable atmosphere. But this is not the effect of the seasonal rainy front.
The first rainfall in the wet season will be witnessed in most areas of the country from June 27 to 30, due to the low pressure originating in the Hwang Ho basin of China and moving towards northeast and the effect of the seasonal rainy front.
From the night of June 27 to 30, most areas except Ryanggang and North Hamgyong provinces and Rason City will observe rainfall of over 100 mm. In particular, downpour and heavy rainfall of 250 to 300 mm will hit some areas of North and South Phyongan and Jagang provinces with the Chongchon River basin as a center from the night of June 27 to the dawn of June 29 and some inland areas of North and South Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces and Kaesong City with the Ryesong River basin as a center from the morning of June 29 to 30.
In this regard, a middle-class alert on downpour and heavy rainfall was issued to those regions. And, a warning on downpour and heavy rainfall was given to other regions except Ryanggang and North Hamgyong provinces and Rason City from the night of June 27 to 30.
Strong wind with the speed of 10 to 15 meters per second is anticipated in some areas of the west coast from the night of June 27 to the morning of June 29. -0-
