Efforts Made in DPRK to Prevent Damage from Floods, Heavy Rains and Storms

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK

Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- Under a well thought-out plan, North Hamgyong Province in the DPRK pushes ahead with the work to prevent damage from floods, heavy rains and storms.

This year, the province has planted over 20 million trees, dredged more than 2 million cubic meters of river beds, constructed tens of thousands of square meters of retaining walls, and carried out the anti-landslide reinforcement at over 200 vulnerable spots.

Trees of good species, including Larix lepolepis, were planted in over 10 000 hectares of area, and new measures are taken to conserve forests. -0-
