Despite years of tensions, the situation on the Korean peninsula has improved significantly over recent months, with Kim Jong Un expressing his readiness to suspend nuclear and missile tests.
The United States has not made any concessions to Pyongyang in negotiations on North Korea's nuclear program, the US President Donald Trump stated via Twitter on Sunday. The US president went on saying that he hesitates that the North Korean issue will be solved soon.
The US president's tweets came a day after Pyongyang declared suspension of ballistic missile and nuclear weapons testing, the move which was highly welcomed by Trump.
Earlier, Trump stressed that he wouldn't take part in a summit with Kim Jong Un unless their meeting is likely to bear fruits.
The US president accepted the invitation to meet with Kim in early March after months of tensions and exchanges of military threats between the two leaders. Trump said later that he expected "tremendous success" in solving the North Korean issue. Meanwhile, according to media reports, Kim spoke about the intention to normalize relations with Washington during a meeting with a South Korean delegation in Pyongyang, noting that his final goal was to sign a peace agreement with the US and establish diplomatic ties, possibly including the opening of a US embassy in the North Korean capital. A historic meeting between the two countries is due to be held this spring.
