19th Kimjongilia Festival Closes

Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- The 19th Kimjongilia Festival closed with due ceremony at the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition on Saturday. It opened on February 13 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

The festival took place under the theme 'Kimjongilias are in full bloom blessing the bright future of Songun Korea'. It aroused the admiration of visitors with tens of thousands of potted Kimjongilias in full bloom.

Present at the closing ceremony were Yang Hyong Sop, Vice-premier Kim Yong Jin, officials of the organizing committee of the festival, service personnel and officials of different units that presented immortal flowers, members of the association for disseminating and supporting the immortal flower, people from all walks of life, schoolchildren and youth, overseas compatriots and foreigners.

At the ceremony diplomas of the festival prize bearing the portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il were awarded to the units highly appreciated for their displayed flowers, the units which arranged their flower display tables in good formative arts, the units which bloomed flowers on a scientific and technological basis and the units which contributed to the successful festival.

The same diplomas went to the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, cultivators of other units, individuals, overseas compatriots and foreigners for cultivating immortal flowers well on a sci-tech basis and contributing to the successful holding of the exhibition.

Many units, officials, working people, schoolchildren and young people who displayed immortal flowers were awarded certificates of the participation in the festival.

Kim Chang Do, chairman of the Korea Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee, made a closing speech.
