North Korea launches two ballistic missiles
26 March 2014, 01:37 -- Today North Korea carried out tests of two ballistic missiles of the Nodong type launched in the direction of the South China Sea, the Yonhap news agency reports.
North Korea fired a ballistic missile at 2:35 am and another at 2:45 am from the Sukchon region, north of Pyongyang, into the East Sea,' South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said, according to Yonhap.
They were thought to be Nodong missiles, it added.
According to the Committee of Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea (South Korea), the missiles covered about 650 km.
North Korea has fired several short-range missiles in recent days. Wednesday's launches came on the day Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was due to meet South Korean President Park, along with U.S. President Barack Obama, who brokered the meeting.
