Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA Friday as regards the resumption of the excavation of remains of GIs between the DPRK and the U.S.:

The U.S. side, some time ago, sent an official letter to the DPRK side through an appropriate channel, requesting it to hold talks for the excavation of remains of GIs.

The DPRK affirmatively accepted the U.S. proposal for holding talks from humanitarianism.

Work for talks between the militaries of the DPRK and the U.S. is now under way.
