Rodong Sinmun Calls for Priority to National Reunification
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- What is important in realizing the unity of the whole nation is to place the common interests of the nation above ideology and ism, says Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a by-lined article.
The unity of the whole nation is essential demand and decisive guarantee for realizing the cause of national reunification, the paper says, adding:
The supreme interests common to the Koreans are national reunification. When they give priority to the identity as a homogeneous nation and the reunification of the country, the interests common to the nation, they can get united as one despite of various differences.
The historic cause of national reunification will be surely realized when all the compatriots unite themselves as one, placing their common interests before anything else irrespective of differences in ideology and system, class and strata.
To give priority to the common interests of the nation is more important under the present situation in which reconciliation and unity between the north and the south presents itself as an urgent problem.
The bedeviled north-south relations bring no good but only harm to every member of the Korean nation. It is quite clear that this situation will lead to vicious cycle of confrontation and conflict and, furthermore, bring irrevocable scourge of war to this land.
If the north-south relations are deteriorated, it will be the Korean nation to suffer from this and the foreign forces to fish in troubled waters. The anguish of the compatriots is growing day by day due to the tragic division of the nation, but the south Korean authorities have rejected the national reconciliation and unity under the unreasonable pretexts and conditions. This is a treacherous crime.
All the Koreans should get closely united under the banner of national reunification, giving priority to the interests common to the nation and wage a more vigorous patriotic struggle for independent reunification, peace and prosperity.
