Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung made public his immortal classical work "The Theses on the Socialist Rural Question in Our Country" on February 25, Juche 53 (1964) while working heart and soul to solve the peasants question, the rural question by attaching great importance to them from long ago.
The theses have served as guidelines for successfully settling the peasants question, the rural question in socialist society, narrowing down the distinction between the urban and rural areas and that between the working class and peasantry and winning the complete victory of socialism.
The rural areas of the DPRK have a steady advance along the road indicated by the theses, eradicating backwardness and poverty and carving out a new history of prosperity.
His idea of building socialist rural villages has been successfully materialized under the leadership of Kim Jong Il.
He has successfully led the work to materialize the rural theses true to the intention of the President. Kim Jong Il made sure that the political leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea and the state guidance to the rural economy were strengthened during the Arduous March, the forced march, too.
In that period villages of bliss appeared in different parts of the country and small patches of paddy and non-paddy fields covering hundreds of thousands of hectares were realigned into standardized fields. Gravity-fed waterways were built to demonstrate the might of irrigation.
The period also witnessed the appearance of a lot of modern stock-breeding bases including chicken, pig, duck, goat and ostrich farms and rabbit breed stock farms and large fruit production centers.
This stirring reality clearly proves the great vitality of the theses.
