o North Korea held the third session of the 12th-term Supreme People’s Assembly on June 7. During the session, a resolution was passed on such agenda as summoning of the cabinet premier and an ensuing election, and organizational issues.

[Inter-Korean Issues]

o On the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the June 10 pro-democracy protest in South Korea, North Korea urged the South Korean populace to wage an anti-government struggle. On June 6, North Korea criticized submission of the issue regarding the sinking of the Cheonan, a South Korean naval corvette, before the UN Security Council. On June 11, the country threatened to make a merciless response concerning the proposed discussion of the issue at the UN Security Council.
