[Inter-Korean Issues]
o North Korea has been denouncing and threatening South Korea day by day in connection with the sinking of a South Korean corvette named the Cheonan. On May 24, North Korea said that it would strike down loudspeakers set up to broadcast South Korean propaganda if the South resumes psychological warfare. It lashed out on May 24 at the South Korean president’s special address to the nation and threatened on May 26 to block passage to and from the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in the event South Korea resumes psychological warfare by loudspeaker broadcasting. It also threatened on May 27 to take military countermeasures concerning inter-Korean exchange and on May 28 to take strong counteractions if the issue regarding the Cheonan is submitted before the UN Security Council.
