o According to a May 8 report, Kim Jong-il watched a comedy titled Sanulrim (Rumbling of a Mountain) again. North Korea broadcast a documentary on Kim Jong-il’s visit to China on May 12, and dismissed Kim Il-chul, a member of the National Defense Commission, on May 13.
[Outside North Korea]
o On May 9, North Korea sent a congratulatory message in the name of Kim Young-nam to Russia to mark the 65th anniversary of Russia’s victory in World War II. On May 12, North Korea argued in a Rodong Sinmun article that it "independently succeeded in creating a nuclear fusion reaction.”
