Story of Kim Il Sung

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- One May day in Juche 61 (1972), President Kim Il Sung happened to see some children waving their hands towards the car carrying him on his way back from the field guidance to the Pyongyang Fruit Farm.

Their faces and clothes were covered all over with mud.

Looking out of the car window, he took on a serious look and told an official accompanying him that buttons came off the children's clothes and that one of them wore buttonless clothes.

He then said that they apparently lost buttons while playing tricks and that two or three suits of clothes would not be enough for mischievous boys, so families with many children would find it difficult to provide them with clothes.

Seeing the children in buttonless clothes, he was worried about their mothers' trouble and burden.

After several days the President convened a meeting of the Political Committee of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and had a decision on lowering the prices of children's garments and footwear adopted at the meeting.
