Banquet Given in Celebration of 65th Birthday of WPK

Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- A banquet was given by the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea at the People's Palace of Culture Sunday in celebration of the 65th birthday of the WPK.

Present there were senior party, army and state officials, the chairperson of a friendly party, the delegates to the national celebrations of the 65th birthday of the WPK and members of the congratulatory group of overseas Koreans.

Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys of different countries, representatives of international organizations and members of the military attaches corps here and other foreign guests.

Choe Thae Bok, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, addressed the banquet.

He said:

The WPK has covered the road of victory and glory under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for past 65 years and brought about epoch-making miracles and changes unprecedented in the history of the nation spanning 5,000 years through dynamic revolutionary practices.

The WPK has creditably discharged its mission and role as organizer and guide of all victories while always linking the leader with the people through the unprecedented rigorous course of history of the Korean revolution, he said, adding that the great exploits of the party are valuable fruition that could be performed under the leadership of the peerless great persons.

The glorious history and exploits of the WPK by which it brought about steady victorious progress of the revolution and the prosperity of Kim Il Sung's nation true to the idea and cause of the President and Kim Jong Il will shine forever in the history of the country.

Brighter and rosy future is in store for the army and people of the DPRK under the leadership of the WPK headed by Kim Jong Il.
