Chinese Party Official Makes Public Written Speech

Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Zhou Yongkang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and secretary of the Central Commission of Politics and Law of the Communist Party of China, made public a written speech at the airport Saturday upon his arrival in Pyongyang.

In his speech he noted that the Workers' Party of Korea achieved independence of the country and liberation of the people weathering manifold obstacles in the spirit of self-reliance and hard efforts by leading the Korean people for the past 65 years and has achieved eye-opening successes one after another in accomplishing the cause of Korean-style socialist construction.

The recent successful Conference of the WPK elected the supreme leadership body and reelected General Secretary Kim Jong Il as general secretary of the WPK, he noted, expressing belief that the WPK under the leadership of Kim Jong Il would open one fresh phase after another and achieve successes in the work to build a thriving nation, achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and improve foreign relations by leading the Korean people.

It is not only honorable, sacred and historic mission but also the common steadfast policy to steadily boost the traditional Sino-DPRK friendship and bring bigger happiness to the peoples of the two countries, he stressed, and went on:

We believe that the bilateral friendly and cooperative relations would bring about the rosier future thanks to the deepest care shown by the top leaders of the two countries and the endeavors of the two parties, two countries and two peoples.

He expressed belief that his visit would certainly help deepen the feelings of friendship between the two parties, two countries and two peoples and accelerate the in-depth development of the Sino-DPRK relations of friendship and cooperation.
