Events Marking Anniversary of WPK Held

Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- A meeting of workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea took place at the Jonsung Square on Monday to mark the 65th birthday of the Workers' Party of Korea.

A report was made by Hyon Sang Ju, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, to be followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers referred to the fact that all the people of the DPRK who greeted the great event in which General Secretary Kim Jong Il was reelected general secretary of the WPK are now significantly celebrating the 65th founding anniversary of the WPK with great national pride and self-confidence.

They recalled that President Kim Il Sung's founding of the WPK marked a historic event which made it possible for the Korean people to bring about a radical turn in carving out their independent destiny and building a rich and powerful country, having a great political guide and genuine guardian of their destiny.

Kim Jong Il has developed the WPK into an invincible party which struggles taking the President's revolutionary idea as its guidelines and a guiding force for the Songun revolution ushering in a great heyday for the prosperity of the country, holding fast to the Songun politics as a revolutionary leadership mode, they added.

They stressed that Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il led the workers of the DPRK to creditably play their role and the GFTUK to discharge its mission and role as a dependable helper and protector of the Party in every period of the development of the revolution.

On the same day, an oratorical meeting of agricultural workers was held in front of the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Museum on the same occasion.

The performers at the oratorical meeting praised the WPK for its greatness and invincibility and expressed their firm resolution to remain true to the Party's Songun revolutionary leadership.
