NK emphasizes the importance of preparing the top party meeting

North Korea encouraged its people to prepare the meeting of core party delegates as a forefront war to improve its people’s standard of living and to establish an economic powerhouse. (in a commentary of Minju Josun, Korean Central News Agency on June 14)

NK criticizes the South in regard with the sinking of the Cheonan.

North Korea has criticized the G8 statement and the resolution of the National Assembly blaming North Korea regarding the sinking of the Cheonan as a dishonest scheme. (Korean Central News Agency on June 29, Rodong Shinmun, Korean Central News Agency on July 2~3)

NK criticizes the South’s psychological warfare

North Korea insisted in media that the resumption of the psychological warfare by the Korean government is an announcement of war. In addition, it said that it will respond to the psychological warfare with military action. (Rodong Shinmun, Korean Central Television on June 30, Pyongyang Broadcasting Services on July 1)

Press conference of the North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesperson

A spokesperson for the North Korean Foreign Ministry insisted in a KCNA press conference that the North should improve its nuclear deterrence in a newly developed way to counter the U.S.’ anti-North Korea policy. It also criticized the U.S.’ plan to attack North Korea with nuclear forces in a recently lifted secret document.
