Papers Observe Lapse of Six Decades since US Provocation of Korean War

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Leading papers Friday carry editorials in connection with the lapse of six decades since the U.S. imperialists provoked the Korean War.

More than half a century has passed since the ceasefire of the Korean war ignited by the U.S. imperialists on June 25, 1950 by instigating the south Korean puppet forces but the Korean nation has been exposed to the constant danger of war and the peace on the Korean Peninsula is always threatened due to the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces' vicious moves to provoke a new war, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on:

The Lee Myung Bak group has persisted in its moves to escalate the confrontation with fellow countrymen, refusing to implement the June 15 joint declaration backed by outsiders from the outset of its office. It orchestrated a hideous farce called warship "Cheonan" case in collusion and tie-up with the U.S.

The moves of the bellicose forces at home and abroad pushed the inter-Korean relations to such a touch and go situation which prevailed six decades ago and are bringing a real war to the Korean Peninsula. This grave situation calls upon all the Koreans to come out in a nation-wide struggle to resolutely check and meet the challenge of aggressors at home and abroad and protect the security of the nation and the peace of the country.

The basic way of defusing the danger of a war to the peninsula and achieving independent reunification is to preserve and implement the June 15 joint declaration, and the October 4 declaration, the supreme programmes of the nation for reunification.

The situation remains grave and manifold difficulties are lying in the way of the Koreans. But they are convinced of victory in the just patriotic cause of achieving the peace and the reunification of the country.

No aggressor forces can hold in check the struggle of the Korean people to protect the national dignity and sovereignty, preserve the peace on the peninsula and the security of the nation and achieve the independent reunification, peace and prosperity under the uplifted banner of the great Songun.

Minju Joson calls upon all the compatriots in the north, the south and abroad to defend the peace on the peninsula and hasten independent reunification by their concerted efforts.
