Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il's work "On Preserving the Juche Character and National Character of the Revolution and Construction" is a monumental work clearly indicating the way of frustrating the imperialists' moves for domination, protecting the country's sovereignty and achieving national prosperity.

Rodong Sinmun Friday observes this in a signed article.

It goes on:

The work, published on June 19, Juche 86 (1997), expounds the essence of the issue of preserving the Juche character and the national character of the revolution and construction and its importance and significance and the theoretical and practical issues arousing in holding fast to the revolutionary principle.

Thanks to this effective ideological and theoretical weapon provided by Kim Jong Il the army and people of the DPRK have been able to decisively meet the political and military pressures and foil the ideological and cultural poisoning of the imperialists, hold high the socialist banner of Juche and glorify the nation's dignity before the whole world.

Preserving the Juche character and national character provides a fundamental guarantee for firmly protecting the independent dignity of the country and the nation and to preserve them is an important requirement for building a self-reliant thriving nation on the land of the country.

To give play to the Juche character and national character is a basic requirement for steadfastly preserving the true nature of socialism and giving full play to the advantages of Korean-style socialism.

The Juche character and national character being immensely glorified by Kim Jong Il serve as an ideological and moral engine for the victorious advance of the Korean revolution and an eternal soul of the Korean people, concludes the article.
