Children's Day Marked

Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- A joint friendly meeting of children and women here and foreign children and women took place at the Taesongsan Pleasure Park on Tuesday to mark the 60th International Children's Day.
It was attended by Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education, and others.
Present on invitation were women of diplomatic missions of different countries and missions of international organizations here and other foreign women and children and foreign guests and overseas compatriots.
Ro Song Sil, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Democratic Women's Union of Korea, made a congratulatory speech at the meeting.
Then it was followed by an art performance given by children.
Korean children presented numbers representing the happy life they are leading while bringing their talents into full bloom under the care of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
Foreign children sang Korean songs well to be acclaimed by audience.
The Korean and foreign children had diverse sports and amusement games such as jumping over flower-decorated rope, looking for things and snatching a ball.
After the amusement games the participants spent pleasant time, dancing together and using amusement facilities.
A friendly gathering was also held in Chongjin, North Hamgyong Province, on the same day.
It was attended by staff members of the Chinese and Russian consulate generals in Chongjin.
