Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- Mass culture and arts serve as an effective weapon for giving play to the mental power of the masses.
Rodong Sinmun Tuesday says this in a signed article.
Popular performing activities have displayed great vitality in the whole course of the Korean revolution and construction, it notes, and goes on:
The elder generation of the Korean revolution created and disseminated the revolutionary hymn "Star of Korea," making songs praising the leader resound forth everywhere and encouraging all the people in their courageous struggle for the liberation of the country full of faith and optimism. In the days of the war frontline concerts were given on each height to make enemy troops shiver.
In the post-war period the Korean people could bring about a great Chollima surge, smashing passivism and conservatism and all the servicepersons and people could victoriously conclude the "Arduous March," the forced march. This was possible entirely thanks to the Workers' Party of Korea that made sure that dynamic revolutionary and mass performing activities were conducted to help the party members and other working people live and struggle with confidence in victory and optimism about future.
Mass cultural and art activities serve as effective means for arousing the masses and making the whole country seethe with revolutionary enthusiasm and optimism and an engine for getting the whole society pervaded with revolutionary enthusiasm and militant stamina.
Dynamic mass performing activities instill redoubled strength and courage into the people and make them feel the worth of working hard. It was against this backdrop that the Kanggye spirit was created and torches were lit at the Songjin Steel Complex and the Ranam Coal Mining Machine Complex to make the waves of a high-pitched drive for effecting new innovations and performing miracles sweep the whole country.
When all fields and units conduct brisk mass cultural and art activities as required by the era of a great surge, the ideological and moral power of the masses will be given full play and revolutionary spirit run high throughout the country, concludes the article.
