People Called upon to Become Genuine Patriots

Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Tuesday editorially calls upon all the people of the DPRK to perform shining heroic exploits in the on-going general offensive for winning a victory in the drive for building a great prosperous and powerful nation in response to the call of the Workers' Party of Korea and thus strikingly demonstrate the honor of being genuine patriots always remembered by the party and the country like the heroes and heroines in the period of the great Chollima surge.
It goes on:
The above-said heroes and heroines displayed inexhaustible mental power in the difficult post-war period of rehabilitation and construction, thus building a socialist power, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defense, on this land. The shining example set by them taught the people how they should struggle to become patriots to be remembered by the party and the country.
The on-going grandiose struggle for the victory in the drive for building a thriving nation has produced a large number of ardent patriots in the Songun era like those heroes and heroines emerged in the period of the great Chollima surge, it notes, adding that it is great pride of the DPRK to see the ranks of such genuine patriots and heroes expand day by day.
The Chollima spirit instilled by President Kim Il Sung into the people helped produce a large number of well-known and unsung patriots and heroes in the 1950s and the revolutionary soldier spirit taught by General Secretary Kim Jong Il to the people at present serves as a weapon for performing miracles and exploits in the on-going struggle for winning a victory in the drive for a great revolutionary surge, notes the editorial.
All the people should perform exploits, racing against the time, like the creators of the Huichon speed, a new Chollima speed, by making the waves of the drive for a great surge sweep the whole country with the soldier spirit, mettle and stamina and thus fully demonstrate the revolutionary mettle of the Korean people struggling, guided by aphorism that the word "impossible" is not to be found in the Korean vocabulary, it says.
