President's Life Shining with Songun Korea

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- Korea is greeting a heyday of progress in an effort to build a great, prosperous and powerful nation.

The country owes the achievement to President Kim Il Sung, who pioneered the cause of building a thriving socialist nation and provided solid foundations for its accomplishment.

Having started revolutionary activities in his early years, the President founded revolutionary armed forces first of all with the plan to build a strong nation and achieved national liberation by force of arms.

After the liberation he developed the Korean People's Revolutionary Army into regular armed forces before accomplishing the cause of state building. He had consistently adhered to the line of giving priority to the military affairs in all the years of leading the Korean revolution.

Thanks to the line the Korean people could emerge victorious in two hard-fought revolutionary wars, two stages of social revolution and socialist construction and turn the country into a Juche-oriented socialist nation, independent, self-sufficient and self-reliant in defence.

The President also held fast to the principle of Songun in successfully solving the issue of carrying forward the revolutionary cause.

He handed one of the two pistols he took over from his father Kim Hyong Jik along with the idea of Jiwon (Aim High) down to General Secretary Kim Jong Il and had the leader standing at the top of the revolutionary forces, thus paving the way for a victorious progress of the Korean revolution.

With the definite guarantee for all-round administration of Songun politics provided by the President the country has continued pushing ahead with the building of a thriving nation in the face of challenges and obstructive moves of the imperialists.

On the occasion of the President's birth anniversary, April 15, Korean people have visited places associated with his revolutionary activities and exploits, recollecting his life devoted to the building of a powerful socialist nation.
