Remembrance Meeting Held by Agricultural Workers

Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- General Secreatry Kim Jong Il watched a combined exercise of Large Combined Unit 567 of the KPA staged on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.

After receiving a salute, he mounted an observation platform to be briefed on the plan of the exercise and watch it.

After watching the exercise the unit conducted at a high level by fully embodying the Juche-oriented war method, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that all the servicepersons of the unit are fully prepared politically and ideologically and in military technique to beat back any surprise attack of the enemy in time and defend the socialist country as firm as a rock.

He highly appreciated the success made in the exercise and set forth highly important tasks which would serve as guidelines for further bolstering up the KPA into ever-victorious revolutionary armed forces.

The servicepersons of the heroic KPA have grown not only to be a death-defying corps of human bombs and vanguard fighters of Songun revolution ready to dedicate their youth and life to the Party and the leader, the country and people but to be powerful revolutionary armed forces equipped with modern offensive and defensive means, he said, adding that the socialist system centered on the popular masses will always remain shining in the DPRK as an invulnerable fortress as it has this matchless great army, a heir to the tradition of the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

He expressed expectation and belief that the servicepersons of the KPA would firmly protect the security of the country and the people's happiness with arms.

He was accompanied by KPA Vice-Marshal Kim Yong Chun, vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of the People's Armed Forces, Ri Yong Mu and O Kuk Ryol, vice-chairmen of the NDC, KPA General Ri Yong Ho, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, KPA General Kim Jong Gak, member of the NDC and first vice-director of the KPA General Political Department, KPA Vice-Marshal Kim Il Chol, member of the NDC, and other commanding officers of the KPA and Secretaries of the C.C., the WPK Jon Pyong Ho, Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam and other senior officials of the C.C., the WPK.

The exercise was watched by deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, those in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, pubic heath and media here and commanding officers of various units of the KPA. Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- A remembrance meeting "President Kim Il Sung without Parallel in the World" of agricultural workers was held in front of the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Museum on Monday on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of birth of Kim Il Sung.

Present at the meeting were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, officials of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea and other agricultural workers in Pyongyang.

Han Kyong Song, vice-chairman of the C.C., the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, said in his speech that Kim Il Sung realized the age-old desire of the peasants after the liberation of Korea and made tireless efforts for the development of the nation's agriculture, walking along lanes between ridges of fields till the last moments of his great life.

Put on the stage were mixed sextets "Let's Sing of the Day of the Sun" and "Song of Mangyongdae", female chorus "Song of Plowing" and mixed duet "The Leader is without Parallel in the World."

Ri Yong Hwa from Jangsan-ri, Ryongchon County, Sin Ok Son, chairwoman of the management board of the Hwasong Vegetable Co-op Farm in Ryongsong District, and Min Kyong Nam, work-team leader of the Chongsan Co-op Farm in Kangso District, told with deep emotion stories about what great loving care and trust the President showed for agricultural workers when he was visiting their farms for field guidance.
