Preparations for the 98th birth anniversary of Kim Il-sung

North Korea has held various commemorative events to mark the 98th birth anniversary of Kim Il-sung, such as holding a national report meeting. (Rodong Shinmun , Korean Central Television, Korean Central News Agency, Korean Central Broadcasting Station)

Stress on the importance of Huichon Power Station

North Korea encouraged the construction of the Huichon Power station by stressing that the Huichon Power Station is the forefront to establish a strong and prosperous nation. (in a political argument in Rodong Shinmun on Apr. 12)

Criticism on the South Government’s Grand Bargain

North Korea denounced the Korean government’s Grand Bargain as a bargain to exchange the North’s nuclear and the South’s economic aids. It also criticized that the Grand Bargain is a foolish delusion and childish trick in a commentary of Rodong Shinmun. (Apr. 17)

Criticism over the words of the North’s involvement in the ship sinking

North Korea criticized in a military comment of the Korean Central News Agency that the South’s allegation to involve North Korea in the sinking of the naval ship, “Cheonan” is a wicked conspiracy of the South Korean government to get away from its governing crisis. North Korea called for conclusion of a peace treaty to resolve denuclearization issue in a commentary of Rodong Shinmun while criticized the “Nuclear Free World” policy of the U.S. is deceptive.
