Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, March 9 (KCNA) -- One day in January Juche 89 (2000) General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the Sinuiju Shoes Factory.
At the injection-molding workshop, he took a pair of shoes in his hands and asked an official of the factory about its brand.
Produced for export the pair of quality injection-molded shoes was trademarked in a foreign language.
Being briefed on the fact, he said with a gloomy expression that it is more important at present to supply shoes to local people than to export them to other countries and that injection-molded shoes should be mass-produced for local people, even though much money are needed.
After his field guidance the factory began producing shoes with Korean-language trademarks, "Junma" (steed) and "Kalmaegi" (seagull).
