Rodong Sinmun released a political argument, under the theme of “The Flame of Gimchol(Ginchaek Steel Manufacturing Company), Flare Up!” on Jan 12.

N.K, enacting new Acts
Korean Central News Agency reported on Jan 15 that the Supreme People’s Assembly Presidium legislated and announced new 7 Acts including “Farm Act.”

Announcement of a spokesperson’s statement of the NDC
North Korea released a spokesperson’s statement of the National Defense Committee and declared its tough stances, such as “waging a holy war against South Korean authorities including Cheongwadae” and “excluding South Korea in all kinds of dialogues and negotiations.” (Korean Central News Agency, Pyongyang Broadcasting Services on Jan 15)

Criticism on the distribution of anti-North leaflets
North Korea sent a message to the South, under the name of the chief negotiator of the working level military talks. It filed a protest with the South Korean government against the distribution of anti-North leaflets by the South’s civic groups. It also insisted that the South Korean government should punish the people engaged in the distribution. (Korean Central News Agency, Korean Central Television on Jan 13)

N.K, calling for the shift of Seoul’s North Korea policy
North Korea put pressure on the South Korean government to change its ‘confrontational North Korea policy’. Pyongyang criticized the South’s military exercises and instigated the abolishment of the National Security Law while proposing a working level talk to resume Mt. Geumgang and Gaeseoung tours. North Korea announced the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Jan 11 and officially proposed the peace treaty talks to the parties to the armistice.

North Korea continuously called for discussions on peace treaty talks to the parties to the armistice in the commentaries of Chosun Shinbo(Jan 14) and Democratic Chosun(Jan 16).
