North Korean Media reported Kim Jong-il’s public activities for four times from January 4 to January 10.
N.K. designating Rason as a special city
Korean Central News Agency reported that Rason city was designated as a special city.
N.K encouraging people for better livelihood
The North admitted that it couldn’t fulfill the last wish of president Kim Il-Sung which is “All people should enjoy a quality of life while eating white rice and meat soup, wearing silk clothes and living under tiled roofs.” It encouraged people to focus nation-wide efforts on improving the people’s livelihoods.
Huichon Speed, a drive for the great march
North Korea stressed the establishment of economic powerhouse at the Huichon Speed this year as Chairman Kim Jong-il visited the Huichon Power Plant as his first field guidance of this year.

N.K calling for the implementation of ‘June 15th Joint Declaration’
North Korea put pressure on the South to change its North Korean policy, stressing the improvement of inter-Korean relations by implementing ‘June 15th Joint Declaration’ while called for “great national solidarity for Koreans.”

Criticism on the U.S.-Japan clandestine pact on nukes
North Korean media reported that the document related to the U.S.-Japan secret pact on nukes is showing Japan’s intention to wage a nuclear war, and also blamed that Japan’s policy was aimed to be a military superpower.
