o Kim Jong-il inspected the July 18 Cattle Ranch under the command of Military Unit 580 (KCNA report on November 20).
[Outside North Korea]
o Kim Jeong-gak, first vice-director of the KPA General Political Bureau visited China and had a meeting with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping (November 17). During visit to North Korea by Stephen Bosworth, US Special Representative for North Korea Policy, the country reemphasized its position that 'a priority should be placed on discussions on normalization of relations between the two nations' (Chosun Shinbo report on November 17).
[Inter-Korean Issues]
o Despite an armed clash in the West Sea, North Korea stressed its 'position in favor of improvement of inter-Korean relations' (KCNA report on November 17). However, North Korea criticized South Korean Unification Minister Hyun In-taek, directly referring to his name (Rodong Shinmun report on November 21).
