[Inside North Korea]
o On September 18, North Korea spun off a part of the Academy of Science as the Science and Technology Committee. On September 22, it hosted a central memorial rally marking the 60th anniversary of the passing of Kim Jong-suk and appealed to all its populace to participate in the '100-Day Battle.'
[Outside North Korea]
o On September 24, North Korea argued that Japan should ‘get rid of the evil practices of its predecessor governments to make a new breakthrough’ in connection with resumption of dialogue between the two countries.
[Inter-Korean Issues ]
o On September 26, North Korea lashed out at the South Korean national defense minister’s suggestion that South Korea is capable of waging a preemptive strike against North Korean nuclear facilities, labeling it a “provocative and violent speech."
