[ Inside North Korea ]
o Kim Jong-il performed on-site guidance at the Daedong River tile factory (according to a July 13 report by KCNA). Torrential rains occurred in some areas including Pyeonggang-gun, Gangwon-do (according to a July 14 report by North Korea’s state-run Korean Central TV).
[ Outside North Korea ]
o On July 16, Kim Young-nam stated during a Non-Aligned Movement summit, "The six party-talks have ended, and North Korea will step up its nuclear deterrence." On July 16, the UN Security Council additionally placed five groups, five persons, and two articles related to North Korea on a list of individuals, entities, and goods subject to sanctions.
[Inter-Korean Issues]
o On July 15, the spokesperson for North Korea’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland criticized, in its reply statement, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak’s tour of Europe.
