o On February 5, North Korea held a central research debate on Kim Jong-il’s accomplishments at the People’s Cultural Palace in the presence of Workers’ Party Secretary Choi Tae-bok and Minister of Education Kim Yong-jin.
o On February 7, a commentator for the Rodong Sinmun said, "North Korea’s right to peaceful use of the universe is legitimate, and nobody can stop this."
- In the comment, North Korea emphasized, "Our (North Korean) policy to peacefully explore and use the universe is in line with development of the times, and nobody can stop this.”

o On February 2, North Korea held a commemorative assembly and film viewing meeting at Chollima Cultural Hall in Pyongyang to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran.
- Minister of Labor Chung Young-su (chairman of the DPRK-Iran Friendship Association) attended the event and mentioned that "we express full support and firm solidarity regarding the fundamental position of the Iranian government and people on peaceful nuclear activities.” o On February 3, a British parliamentary delegation led by David Alton, British parliamentarian and the chairman of the British-North Korean All Party Group, visited Pyongyang.
o On February 4, the Korean Central News Agency of North Korea reported, "Recently, the Chinese government decided to provide free assistance to North Korea.” It also said, "This will provide encouragement to the North Korean populace in its struggle for creation of a strong and prosperous nation.”
