Kim Yong Nam Meets Chairman of Russian Federation Council

Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a friendly talk with Sergei Mikhailovich Mironov, chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Wednesday when the latter paid a courtesy call on him.
Kim said that the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and Russia have long historical roots, underscoring the need to boost the relations in conformity with the desire of the two peoples.
Mironov noted that he would strengthen the friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK in the spirit of the joint declarations agreed upon by the top leaders of the two countries. He hoped that the Korean people would achieve successes in their struggle for opening the gate for a great prosperous and powerful nation.
Present there were Kim Wan Su, vice-chairman of the SPA, Kung Sok Ung, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officials concerned.
On hand were Valery E. Sukhinin, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, Aleksei Borodavkin, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Ruslan Tatarinov, director of the Secretariat of the Federation Council, Andrei Baklanov, director of the Bureau for International Relations of the Federation Council, Konstantin Pulikovski, advisor to the chairman of the Federation Council, and other suite members.
