  • Kim Jong-Il’s public appearance during the third week of July - North Korea media have reported Kim Jong-Il’s public activities for twice during July 13 to 19.
  • Holing an outreach cabinet meeting – DPRK held an outreach meeting with all cabinet members participated to review current status of planned economy. The meeting also dealt with performance of the economy during the third quarter of this year, budget spending and its plans during the first half of this year. It is reported by Korean Central News Agency on July 18.
  • DPRK’s trade with China in May 2009 - North’s trade with China has registered $191, 700,000 in May 2009 according to China ’s maritime customs authorities.

 

Inter-Korean Affairs

 

  • Spokesperson’s answer from Committee for Peaceful Unification of the Fatherland (CPUF) to the question from Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) – DPRK has criticized South Korean president Lee Myung-bak’s comment during his visit to Europe in the form of CPUF spokesperson’s answer to the question from a reporter of KCNA. It is reported by Central Broadcasting Station and KCNA on July 15.

 

Foreign Affairs

 

  • DPRK said the end of six-party talks at Non-Aligned Movement Summit – Kim Young-Nam, chief commissioner of Supreme People’s Assembly, said at the Non-Aligned Movement Summit held in Egypt that six-party talks aimed to denuclearize the Korean peninsular were permanently ended.
