Kim Jong-Il ’s public appearance during the fourth week of June – From June 22 nd to 28 th, North Korean media reported Kim Jong-Il ’s public appearance for once.

The North started the mass conventions condemning the sanctions by the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) – For a countermeasure to the sanctions by the UNSC against the North, the North opened numerous mass conventions condemning the sanctions all over the country.

The North progressed the events for 6.25 U.S. Boycott Day – In order to celebrate 6.25 Boycott Day, the North opened the resolution meeting, censuring meeting, and mass conventions every day.

Lee Gwang-ho, the head of the department of Science Education, deceased – On June 27 th, KCNA of North Korea announced that 50-year-old Lee Gwang-ho was dead.

Expected report for North Korean economic rate of growth and GNI in 2008 – In 2008, the economic rate of growth of the North was expected to be 3.7% while the nominal GNI was expected to be 27.3 trillion Won (1/38 of the South ’s); per capita GNI, 1.17 million Korean Won (1/18 of the South ’s).

Inter-Korean Affairs

At the Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland ’s spokesperson talks, the North condemned “practice of war ” – Through the spokesperson talks on June 25 th and spokesperson conference on June 27 th, the North condemned the South Korea ’s “scheme to attack the North. ” (KCNA)

The North condemned the ROK – US summit talk joint vision (6.16) – Through the review by a journalist of Rodong Newspaper, the North criticized the contents of the joint vision for the ROK-US alignment, which was adopted at the summit talk between the South and the U.S. while pointing out the contents one by one. (June 25 th)

The North shifted the responsibility of the nuclear issue to the U.S. – The North argued that the nuclear issue of Korean Peninsula occurred due to the nuclear threat by the U.S. and that the U.S. continues the oppressive policy against the North through lies and schemes with nuclear weapons.

In relation to 6.25 Boycott Day, the North continuously reported condemnation toward the U.S. – Numbers of media including Rodong Newspaper continuously reported contents related to condemning the U.S.; for example, they condemned that U.S. is the main culprit for destructing peace of Korean Peninsula around the day of boycotting the U.S. products.
