Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Rakwon Machine Complex.

Going round production processes including the oxygen plant-building factory, he acquainted himself with technological updating and production there.

He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the workers of the above-said factory are accelerating the production with ardent patriotic enthusiasm and in sky-high spirit in order to contribute to the building of a great prosperous powerful nation and conducting brisk preparations for completing in a brief span of time the manufacture of a huge oxygen plant needed for the ammonia production process by coal gasification to be newly built at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, in particular.

He had a specific consultation with officials of the complex and factory about measures on the spot and, on this basis, indicated the orientation and ways of successfully completing the above-said plant.

He underscored the need for the Pukjung Machine Complex, the Ryongsong Machine Complex and other complexes concerned to preferentially provide items of cooperative production in order to finish the manufacture of the plant as early as possible.

He set forth the tasks to be carried out by the Rakwon Machine Complex, stressing the need for it to boost the manufacture of various type machines including oxygen plants and decisively improve their quality.

He emphasized that in order to produce more modern machines as required by the IT age it is necessary to continue focusing efforts on technological updating based on ultra-modern technology and put the production processes on a modern and scientific basis.

He noted that an immediate task facing the complex is to produce quality machine products including excavators, while concentrating all efforts on the manufacture of the large oxygen plant, and send them to the capital construction sites and the construction site of the Huichon power station and all other fields of the national economy.

He expressed expectation and conviction that the workers of Rakwon would make a great leap forward in the machine production with the same spirit and stamina as they displayed in taking the lead in defending the party and the leader in every period of the revolution from the days of the Fatherland Liberation War up to this date and thus continue to give full play to the heroic mettle of the Korean working class.

He was accompanied by Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi and Jang Song Thaek, department directors of the C. C., the WPK.
