Internal Affairs

  • Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development announced on November 18 that it would sign a loan agreement with North Korea , which is valued at $21.7 million.

  • The DPRK reported that it completed the construction of Gobo Youth Power Station in Gobo-ri, Uiwon-gun in Jagang-do and held its opening ceremony on November 18.

  • Libraries in the provinces across North Korea started providing free information service aided by modernized information facilities, followed by libraries in cities and villages which have made vigorous preparation efforts to provide information service.

  • In 2008, North Korea produced 28 exemplary agitators of the military-first era, who add up to 180 of them.

  • The DPRK recently emphasized the achievements of Three Revolutionary Red Flag Movement and promoted this movement, emphasizing economic construction and better lives of the people.

Inter-Korean Affairs

  • In a statement issued on November 22, the spokesperson for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland criticized the comments made by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak who said that the ultimate goal was reunification of the Korean peninsula under a free and democratic system.

Foreign Affairs

  • North Korea criticized Japan for its distortion of the history, movement for outward domination and efforts for militarization of outer space.
  • The DPRK criticized the U.S. for its movement to modernize its nuclear arsenal and claim to resume its nuclear test. The North also criticized the U.S.-South Korea Joint Landing Exercise.
