Internal Affairs

  • Kim Young-nam, the Standing Committee Chairman of the Supreme People’s Assembly, met Bruno Lafont, CEO of France’s Lafarge and Nassef Sawiris, CEO of Egypt’s Osram Telecom.

  • The DPRK criticized the ROK’s Ministry of Unification through a commentary titled “An Organization for Disruption with a Front of Unification.”

  • The DPRK criticized ROK’s military exercises and the Lee Myung-bak government through a commentary of an editorial writer specializing in military issues titled “Reveal the Risks Posed by the Military Exercise Leading to Confrontation and Warfare.”

Foreign Affairs

  • The DPRK criticized the joint military exercise and the strengthened alliance between ROK and the U.S. , citing them as the U.S. ’s military pressure on North Korea and anti-North Korea policy.
  • The DPRK criticized Japan for claiming its sovereignty over Dokdo and the the Yasukuni Shrine visits by the extreme rightists through commentaries published in Pyongyang Broadcasting Services and Central Broadcasting Station.
  • The DPRK maintained its position on the nuclear issue as shown in the remarks of the U.N. General Assembly keynote speech by Vice Foreign Minister Park Gil-yon who said that the U.S. ’s demand for verification according to allegedly international norms could not be acceptable.
