Art Performance Given to Mark 60th Birthday of DPRK

  Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- A music and dance performance "Song Dedicated to the Homeland of Songun" was given at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Wednesday to celebrate the 60th birthday of the DPRK.
    It was enjoyed by senior party, army and state officials, chairperson of a friendly party, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, officers and men of the Korean People's Army, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and the press and working people in the city of Pyongyang.
    Among the audiences were overseas compatriots including the congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan staying in the socialist homeland to celebrate the 60th birthday of the DPRK.
    Present on invitation to enjoy the performance were diplomatic envoys of foreign embassies and members of the military attaches corps and representatives of international organizations here and foreign guests.
    The performance began with chorus "Song of General Kim Il Sung", an immortal revolutionary paean. The repertoire included male solo "Song of River Amnok", dance "Azalea of the Motherland", female chorus "Song of New Spring", female instrumental ensemble "Pass of Mungyong", mixed quintet "Oh, My Motherland of Songun", violin solo and chorus "General, Here is the Forefront" and female vocal solo and chorus "Let's Love Our Country".
    The performers loudly sang of the Korean people's deep reverence and trust in President Kim Il Sung, who built the socialist power centered on the popular masses in Korea to provide them with the eternal cradle of life, and General Secretary Kim Jong Il, who is guiding the revolutionary cause of Juche and the building of a great prosperous powerful nation always to victory with his unique Songun politics.
    The performance was acclaimed by the audiences.
