Pyongyang in Holiday Atmosphere

   Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang is in a festive mood on the eve of the 60th birthday of the DPRK.
    Streets, villages and working sites have been spruced up. The area surrounding the Arch of Triumph, Sungri Street, Chollima Street and other streets and bridges in the city are colorfully decorated with electric lights.
    A national book exhibition, a Korean stamp exhibition, a national art exhibition and a national industrial art exhibition are opened. And colorful functions including celebration meetings of the working people's organizations are being held and joint performance of working people's art groups in Pyongyang given to celebrate the red-letter day.
    During the ten-day film show which opened on September 4, documentary and feature films on the undying exploits performed by the peerlessly great persons in the prosperity and development of the DPRK are being screened at the cinema and cultural houses in the city.
    The mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" and mass gymnastic display "May Country Prosper" are taking place in the May Day Stadium before capacity audience. They show the 60-year history of the DPRK in a grand epical canvas.
    The national art troupes including the State Symphony Orchestra, the Mansudae Art Troupe, the Phibada Opera Troupe, the State Theatrical Company and the Pyongyang Circus are busy with preparations for celebration performance.
    The Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia show spreads a beautiful sea of flowers with Kimilsungias and Kimjongilias exhibited by armed forces organs, ministries, national institutions and enterprises. Among the exhibitors are overseas Koreans, foreign diplomatic missions and missions of international organizations in Korea, friendship and solidarity organizations of foreign countries and foreign public figures.
    Passenger transport and public welfare sectors are also busying themselves in preparation for holiday service to the citizens. The Okryu Restaurant, Ryonmot Restaurant and other catering facilities are ready to serve special holiday dishes to working people in the city.
    The factories under the Pyongyang City Food Complex and local industry factories in districts and counties are producing foodstuffs at full capacity.
