Kim Yong Nam Pays Courtesy Call on Hu Jintao

   Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, on a visit to China to participate in the opening ceremony of the 29th Olympic Games paid a courtesy call on Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Aug. 7.
    On the occasion Hu Jintao expressed deep thanks on behalf of the party, government and people of China to the Korean comrades for rendering positive support throughout the period of making preparations for the Olympiad and to General Secretary Kim Jong Il for sending sympathy to them and to the party, government and people of the DPRK for extending sincere support to them during the difficult period when China suffered a series of natural disasters, in particular.
    The Sino-Korean friendship is a common treasure provided by the revolutionaries of the elder generation, he said, stressing that it is the consistent strategic policy of the party and government of China to steadily boost these relations of friendship no matter how the international situation may change in the future.
    He said that the Korean people have registered many successes despite difficulties by displaying the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
    On behalf of the party, government and people of China he wished the Korean people greeting the 60th birthday of the DPRK this year greater success in the nation-building.
    Present there were Pak Kil Yon, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Choe Jin Su, DPRK ambassador to China, Ling Jihua, director of the General Office and secretary of the Secretariat of the C.C., the CPC, Wang Huning, director of the Policy Research Office and secretary of the Secretariat of the C.C., the CPC, Dai Bingguo, state councilor, and Yang Jiechi, minister of Foreign Affairs.
