Torrential Rains Hit DPRK

   Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- Heavy rains poured in many parts of the DPRK from August one to three, influenced by the low pressure created in the middle of the West Sea of Korea.
    The precipitations in Sepho, Hoeyang, Kosong and Phyonggang areas of Kangwon Province and Paechon and Yonan areas of South Hwanghae Province were respectively 322mm, 303mm, 244mm, 225mm, 224mm and 177mm on August two alone.
    The Kumgang and Sepho areas of Kangwon Province and Songchon area of South Phyongan Province experienced downpours of 127mm, 120mm and 108mm respectively in 00:00-03:00, 12:00-15:00 and 15:00-18:00 on the same day.
    In particular it rained in torrents in Kumgang County for 9 hours.
    For the three days rainfalls of over 150-300 mm were observed in areas of Kangwon, North and South Phyongan and South Hwanghae provinces and rainfalls of more than 50mm in over 10 cities and counties.
    It rained heavily in most parts of the DPRK on July 20, 21, 24 and 25.
    The recent downpours inflicted heavy losses to various sectors of the national economy including agriculture and to the people's living in the relevant areas.
