All Koreans Called upon to Maintain Independent Stand
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- In order to wage a more dynamic movement for national reunification at present, all Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should firmly maintain an independent stand.
Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed article.
It goes on:
It is the requirements of the times and the developing reality and the unanimous will of all the Koreans at home and abroad to reject outside forces' domination and interference and solve the issue of reunification independently by their concerted efforts.
The issue of national reunification is not the one of settling the class contradictions among compatriots and the conflicts caused by differing systems but the matter of establishing national sovereignty.
The Koreans should become a main player in settling the issue of national reunification and achieve it by their own efforts in line with their desire and will for independence under any circumstances as the cause of national reunification is the issue to be solved by themselves and a matter related to the national sovereignty.
They can never solve the issue of reunification by depending upon outside forces. The Koreans are directly responsible for national reunification and, therefore, nobody can replace them in the struggle for achieving it.
The idea of "By our nation itself" clarified in the historic June 15 joint declaration represents a transparent spirit of national independence. The idea helped significantly raise the Koreans' consciousness of independence and definitely put the movement for national reunification on the orbit of national independence as it is a patriotic idea reflecting their desire and will for independence.
The history and reality eloquently prove that the stand of national independence serves as the fundamental stand to be held fast to by the Korean nation in solving the issue of reunification and it is necessary to resolutely frustrate the anti-reunification moves of foreign aggressor forces and sycophantic and traitorous forces, their lackeys, in the spirit of national independence.
Terming those swimming against the trend of the times towards national independence foes of reunification, the article calls on all the Koreans not to pardon the Lee Myung Bak group in south Korea hell-bent on sycophancy towards the U.S. and dependence upon outside forces quite contrary to the trend of the times towards independent reunification.
