Full Display of Spirit of Independence Called for
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)
Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- The spirit of national independence serves as an ideological basis of great national unity. The Koreans are called upon to underscore the above-said spirit and fully display it and achieve and consolidate the great unity on its basis.
Rodong Sinmun Monday says this in a signed article.
The Korean nation has stronger patriotism than any other nations and is a proud nation with strong spirit of national independence, the article notes, and goes on:
The Koreans have always loved their country ardently and valiantly struggled for its dignity and sovereignty, not yielding to outside aggressors. The Japanese imperialists enforced the harshest colonial rule over Korea after occupying it for several decades in the past but they could not quell the strong spirit and indomitable stamina of the Korean nation. When the U.S. imperialists ignited the war in a bid to enslave the whole Korean nation, it honorably defended its sovereignty by heroic fighting in a do-or-die spirit.
The Koreans' spirit of national independence is now being more fully displayed thanks to the most vital Songun politics in the world.
If the Korean nation is to live and develop independently today, the June 15 era of reunification, it should embody the idea of "By our nation itself". The spirit of "By our nation itself" provided by the historic June 15 joint declaration to the Koreans constitutes a solid ideological basis for rallying close the Koreans as one under the patriotic banner, the banner of national reunification.
All Koreans should display ardent patriotism and transparent spirit of independence to augment the might of great national unity in every way. Herein lies a sure guarantee for advancing the cause of independent reunification to victory.
With no desperate efforts can foreign forces and the south Korean conservative ruling forces, their lackeys, bar the Korean nation from achieving great unity under the uplifted banner of national independence.
