U.S. Live Shell Firing Drill of New Type Weapons under Fire

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, June 4 (KCNA) -- The recent live shell firing exercise of new type weapons staged by the U.S. trigger-happy forces in the area near the Military Demarcation Line is a deliberate and premeditated military provocation to the DPRK aimed at pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war though there is a sign of positive development, observes Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary.
    It goes on:
Peace-keeping on the Korean Peninsula and improved DPRK-U.S. relations depend on the U.S. abandonment of its hostile policy to stifle the DPRK.
It is attributable to the reckless moves of the U.S. war-like forces against the DPRK that the peninsula is one of the biggest hot spots in the world where the situation remains very tense and there is the constant danger of war.
The U.S. war-like forces openly disclose their intention to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK and bluster that the future Korean war will be a nuclear war whenever an opportunity presents itself. This is a blatant challenge and provocation against the Korean people and the world progressives desirous of the peace, security and stability on the peninsula. For the detente on the peninsula the U.S. should refrain from any military action that may strain the situation.
The dialogue and negotiations between the DPRK and the U.S. are aimed at achieving the detente on the peninsula and improving the bilateral ties. But the U.S. trigger-happy forces are working hard to bedevil the bilateral relations and push the situation on the peninsula to an explosive phase by staging saber-rattling intended to escalate tension.
The aggravating situation on the peninsula is not beneficial to the U.S., either.
Neither military blackmail nor pressure would help the U.S. war-like forces break or weaken the firm faith of the people of the DPRK. They would be well advised to give up their foolish attempt to do harm to the DPRK by force of arms.
