Internal Affairs
Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to Hamhung Medical University and the Mt. Paekun recreation ground, reported KCNA.
KCNA reported on May 31 that Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to February 8 Vinalon Complex.
Rodong Sinmun and KCNA reported on May 31 that, along with ideology and guns, science and technology has wielded its power as one of the three pillars supporting a socialist state throughout the 60-year history of the DPRK.
Kim Jong Il gave a field guidance to Hungnam Smeltery, reported KCNA on May 31.
Inter-Korean Affairs
In a commentary titled “We condemn anti-nationalistic pragmatism of the South Korean government” released in Rodong Sinmun on May 30, North Korea criticized the pragmatic approaches of the South Korean government.
On May 30, KCNA reported that in the name of its head delegate to the working-level inter-Korean military talks, North Korea sent a notice urging the South to stop spreading propaganda fliers.
Foreign Affairs
Rodong Sinmun and KCNA continued criticizing Japan for claiming its sovereignty over the Islands of Dokdo and exploiting space.
In a Chosun Sinbo commentary, North Korea claimed that a progress had been made in its relations with the United States as well as in the Six-party Talks.
North Korea ’s state-run media, including KCNA and Rodong Sinmun, continued criticizing the United States for posing military threats through developing new weapons and strengthening military alliance with South Korea . They also condemned Washington for releasing the Advancing Freedom and Democracy Reports.
