Joint National Meeting of KCU Organizations Held

   Pyongyang, April 14 (KCNA) -- A joint national meeting of organizations of the Korean Children's Union (KCU) took place in the plaza of the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, the sacred temple of Juche, on Monday to commemorate the 96th anniversary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.
    Present there were representatives of KCU organizations in provinces, schoolchildren in Pyongyang and those joining the KCU.
    Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Jin, minister of Education, officials concerned and others were present on invitation.
    All the participants in the meeting made deep bows to the portrait of the smiling President.
    Ri Yong Chol, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, said in his report that the great life of the President was that of the benevolent father who devoted his all to the rising generations.
    The President formed the Saenal Children's Union, a Juche-based revolutionary organization of children, in the early days of his revolutionary activities and since then, has trained the rising generations to be reliable heirs of the revolution with his warm love and deep trust decades after decades, the reporter noted.
    The history of the President's love for posterity is being given steady continuity by General Secretary Kim Jong Il, the reporter said, calling upon all the KCU members to fully prepare themselves to be true heirs to the revolutionary cause of Juche as befitting the new generation of Songun Korea, holding the leader in high esteem.
    Then there was an admission ceremony of the KCU.
    Led by Kim Jung Rin, the pupils joining the KCU took an oath before the KCU flag.
    Senior officials, war veterans, persons of merit and party and youth league officials congratulated them on their admission to the KCU on the occasion of the significant Day of the Sun, putting red ties around their necks and pinning KCU badges on their chests.
    Congratulatory addresses were made by Ri Sang Ju, a war veteran, Prof. and Dr. Han Kwang Ryong, head of a department of Kim Il Sung University, and Labor Hero Jang Kyong Ok, who is People's Sportsperson.
