Kim Il Sung's Far-reaching Plan for Construction of Pyongyang Carried into Reality

Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung made public the famous work "On Some Questions Arising in the Rehabilitation and Construction of Pyongyang" on April 5, Juche 42 (1953) when the Fatherland Liberation War was at its height.
He in the work says that Pyongyang, the heroic city, should be rehabilitated and constructed as beautiful, grand and modern one after defeating the U.S. imperialists and puts forward the orientation, stage and order for it. He lays stress on demonstrating the mettle of the Koreans to the whole world once again in the rehabilitation and construction.
Under the leadership of the President the Korean people built Pyongyang to be a modern city on the war debris in a short span of time after the war.
His far-reaching plan for building the capital has been translated into practice under the guidance of Kim Jong Il.
Monumental edifices such as the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Arch of Triumph, the Mansudae Art Theatre and the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace and dwelling houses of Chollima, Changgwang, Kwangbok and Thongil Streets have been constructed in rows.
The People's Palace of Culture, the Grand People's Study House and other buildings which are national in form and socialist in content add grandeur to the city. And establishments have been erected in every nook and corner of the city so as to provide all living conveniences and cultural rest conditions to the people.
In recent years, Pyongyang has changed its looks in accordance with the demand of the new century.
The projects for repairing and reconstructing the main streets including Sungri, Hyoksin and Pipha streets have been dynamically carried on, thus converting Pyongyang into more cultural one.
The Pyongyangites are enjoying a happy life to their hearts' content in the capital which has been built in accordance with the far-reaching plan of the President under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
