Increased Efforts for Peace and Prosperity Called for

Pyongyang, March 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation is a justice-loving nation as it stands for peace and prosperity. Peace and prosperity reflect the nation's aspiration and wish for independence and dignity and fully represent the nation's desire for independent development. Rodong Sinmun Saturday says this in a signed article.
The struggle for peace and prosperity is a patriotic cause of exalting the dignity of the Korean nation, bringing about happiness and achieving prosperity, the article says, and goes on:
The Korean people can never think of peace and prosperity unless they solve the issue of national reunification on which hinge national sovereignty and dignity.
The Korean nation is stronger in aspiration and demand for independent development than any other nations.
The Korean people's desire for peace and prosperity is facing the challenge of the imperialists.
The U.S. is increasing its pressure upon the DPRK while persistently pulling up it over the "nuclear issue" and the "human rights issue." Lurking behind it is a criminal intention to arrest the Korean people's struggle for independent reunification in a bid to block their uniform development and hamstring their efforts to achieve prosperity.
Peace should be achieved through struggle as it is a prerequisite to development and prosperity. The U.S. imperialists have watched for a chance to provoke a new war on the Korean Peninsula. Had the DPRK failed to build war deterrent in every way by developing the self-reliant defence industry under the uplifted banner of Songun under this situation, the DPRK would have met the same lot as Iraq did and its people would have become slaves of the U.S. imperialists.
The Workers' Party of Korea is steadfast in its stand for peace and prosperity. All the struggles of the WPK are honorable and worthwhile ones to achieve the country's reunification and build a reunified, peace-loving and prosperous power on this land by the concerted efforts of the Koreans.
